Watermark Insights is a higher education software company that provides data-driven tools to help colleges and universities manage academic and administrative processes such as assessment, accreditation, faculty activity, student success, etc.  Within the College of Education, data is collected from all stakeholders, including mentors, supervising teachers, and alumni.  For additional information or connection issues, email Watermark@wmcarey.edu

Login Instructions for Students

  1. Open your Canvas shell course.
  2. Go the the Module or Assignment that contains a Watermark assessment.  
  3. Click on the link in the Canvas assignment that says;
    Load this tool into a New Window.

Login Instructions for Cooperating Teachers/Mentors

  1. Open a new browser, Chome/Firefox recommended.
  2. Go to
  3. Use your school district email and then select ' forgot password' to create it.
  4. Once your password is created, use it to login to Watermark from the same URL.  This will take you to an ' In Progress' page that will show the list of assessments to be completed throughtout the term.

Completing a Student Assessment (Mentor and ¶¶ÒõÖ±²¥Ò•îl faculty)

  1. Choose the assessment to be completed.
  2. From the assignment page, select the appropriate student's name.
  3. Assessment directions will appear in the center panel.  A small version of the rubric will be on the right side of the screen..
  4. Select View Rubric Detail above the rubric.  This will enlarge the rubric for scoring and will allow for comments to be written below each element of the rubric.
  5. When you have completed scoring, CLOSE the rubric.  Next SAVE and SUBMIT after completing the rubric. Note: Buttons are in top right corner.
  6. Some assessments require the Cooperating Teacher/Mentor AND the University Supervisor. A message '"1/2 Awaiting Assessment" may appear if the University Supervising teacher has not completed the assessment, although the Cooperating Teacher has completed it.

Approving Time Logs

  1. After students submit time logs in Watermark, an email will go to the appropriate person to to approve the time log.  
  2. The time logs pending approval will appear under the 'Student Logs' tab for the instructor's class.
  3. Instructors have the ability to approve or reject as needed.  The system will automatically calculate the hours accumulated.
  4. Cooperating Teachers/Mentors will see time logs on the 'In Progress' page. and should be able to approve the time or notify the University Supervisor with any questions.
